Are you wondering what is Read Across America 2021 all about?

In 1998, the National Education Association (NEA) launched a program called Read Across America.

The goal of this revolutionary initiative is to get children and adolescents excited about reading.

They do so by hosting various events. It includes events like book clubs whereby the participants get opportunities to meet authors in person. 

When is it held?

The good news is that you can celebrate Read Across America however and whenever you choose!

NEA is excited to bring you a year-round program with daily, weekly, or monthly reading fun.

There are even big celebrations of reading on March 2nd and during National Reading Month in January for all children who want to enjoy the joys of reading. 

Who celebrates the events?

In the United States, reading is a priority. Governors and mayors are pro-reading in their communities.

To support this noble cause, they are issuing statements or proclaiming days of celebration for it.

Athletes like Lebron James promote literacy to children through challenges.

On the other hand, some renowned actors like Morgan Freeman issue their challenge with hopes that students will get excited about books again.

Teachers also have creative ways to keep kids interested too; teachers may dye their hair green so they can be “green” just like them!
