Learning made fun using different syllable games

Learning made fun using different syllable games

The early learning stages of your child have a significant role to play in their foundation for languages.

And when you are teaching your child to speak, teaching them syllables is an easy option that will help them understand in a better way.

So basically, syllables are how we split the words based on their speech sounds.

Should children have an idea about syllables?

The natural pronunciation of words is through syllables.

However, it would help if you turned to other various options for reading and correcting the spellings.

Moreover, while learning a new language, the child needs to adapt to the breakage.

So, it is better for an accessible learning environment for your child to opt for online syllable games.

With these games, not only will your child enjoy learning but will gradually be comfortable and start trying new things.

Who said that learning and fun could not go hand in hand?

With the education industry’s revolution, there are many ways in which you can play syllable games with children and help them sail through.

1. Drumming

To help kids learn syllables, it is better to be a kid like them.

So, please make use of their favorite sound toys like the tambourine.

Take one word and bang the tambourine whenever there is a change in the syllable.

The break between the tambourine sounds will help the child understand the breakage and pronunciation of words.

Also, this game will help the child to understand the smooth transition from one syllable to another.

Also, you can add variations to this activity for the child’s interest by making the children sit in a circle, passing the tambourine, and giving each child a chance.

2. Marker activity

To help the children make good use of syllables, the child must understand the breaks.

So, you can use tokens for the children and ask them to mark or count the number of syllables in each word.

If you are a teacher and have to teach your students syllables in the easiest possible way, this is an excellent game.

Distribute 2-3 tokens to each child attached to a horizontal line on paper.

So, they will have to shift these tokens from one end to the other to note the number of syllables.

They will enjoy the game and understand the pronunciation of different words.

3. Jumping syllables

As the name suggests, this is an enjoyable activity to help students have a proper understanding of syllables and create new words.

What you can do is ask all the students to stand in a circle.

Begin with one word and ask them to jump whenever they think that the word has a syllable.

And the child next to the child who has identified the syllable will have to create a random or ‘silly’ word with the syllable.

It will help the students to do their best in a brainstorming session that will be fun and interesting.

4. Clapping the syllables out

Making use of sounds like clapping is one of the best ways to help students learn and understand the usage of syllables.

Begin with tiny words and gradually move to the big ones.

Divide the students into a team or let them perform this activity with their partners.

They have to begin pronouncing the word with you and clap whenever they spot a syllable along with their partner.

It will help them practice the word sounds and syllables of different words as they move from short and simple to big ones.

This will enhance the reading ability of students.

5. Manipulate the multisyllabic

You will need a chart for this.

First, you need to pick up words with syllables and write each syllable as a note and stick them in a chaotic form on the chart.

Then, you will have to ask the students to form a word with the syllables and decode it.

The students will enjoy this activity a lot and put their best creative selves to use.

How to instruct the students?

a. For young readers and those who have difficulty in reading, make sure to use pictures.

b. Bodily activities like jumping and clapping are a must for full participation.

It will help the students not only learn but also perform some bodily functions that will help in better and quick learning.

c. For advanced level learners, writing activity should be considered and included as they will implement their learning.

Conclusion

These syllable games are a creative and exciting pick if you wish to help individual students, teams, or groups and help them with syllables.

Students need to have a solid foundation base, and syllable games are an excellent way to enhance their reading and understanding levels.
